“Everyone should know when it’s time,” Sheriff Ronnie Strength said Friday. “And I think my time has come.”

In an interview with The Augusta Chronicle the sheriff said he was “just tired” after serving the community for 35 years and working as sheriff for 11.

Throughout that time, he said he has put his job first and his family second – something he said was regrettable.
