Atlanta expects heavy traffic weekend

ATLANTA — Authorities say they expect heavy traffic in downtown Atlanta during the weekend, as several major events are planned in the city.

CBS Atlanta reports that the downtown area will host an estimated 250,000 visitors.

They include the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus at Philips Arena, where several performances are planned for this weekend.

Next door at the Georgia Dome, thousands more spectators will attend the Professional Bull Riders Built Ford Tough Series. The Georgia World Congress Center is also hosting two large events.

Atlanta police are advising people who attend the events to consider using public transportation to avoid traffic tie-ups.
