Portions of Interstate 520 in Augusta will have single-lane closures Wednesday through Friday, weather permitting, the Georgia Department of Transportation said.
The closures, on eastbound and westbound I-520 at Deans Bridge Road, will allow contractors to make concrete cuts to the road to replace slabs.
The $29.8 million federal project was awarded in September to Pittman Construction Co. of Conyers, Ga. The project consists of 4.7 miles of widening and reconstruction on I-520 from Deans Bridge Road to Gordon Highway. It includes construction of two bridges on I-520 over Deans Bridge Road. The contract completion date is May 31, 2014.
