A Richmond County Sheriff’s vehicle was in an accident Friday night.
At 7:22 p.m., dispatch got a call for an accident involving an officer’s car on Gay Drive off of Mike Padgett Highway. No major injuries were reported, the officer was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital with a minor head injury, a dispatcher said.
The car had a K-9 unit in the back that was transported to an animal hospital, but the injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
Hate to keep harping on the headlines, but this is inaccurate, too. The Sheriff is a person. He was not involved in an accident. A deputy was.
@Riverman, but it got your attention as it was designed to do!
Follow-up please, if appropriate to provide? Names of deputy and dog, and conditions?
Too many details missing. Was another vehicle involved? What was the cause of the accident?
The Deputy was not at fault. The Deputy was going south when a north bound vehicle turned left into the path of the Deputy. The other vehicle's driver was drunk.
