A 68-year-old Thomson woman died Sunday afternoon when she ran a stop sign and traveled into the path of another vehicle, police said.

Irene Moneyham Fulmer was driving her 2001 Ford Explorer eastbound on Old Milledgeville Road. Shortly after 2 p.m., she ran the stop sign at the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road in McDuffie County, Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said.

Porsha Nicole Ivey, 22, from Lincolnton, Ga., was traveling south on Mount Pleasant Road in a 2004 Dodge Stratus and hit the driver-side door of Fulmer’s SUV, which overturned.

Ivey and her passenger, Omar Murray, 27, of Warrenton, Ga., were airlifted to Medical College of Georgia Hospital.
