Dense fog that was supposed to dissipate this afternoon is likely to persist into the evening hours, according to a new National Weather Service advisory that will remain in effect until 7 p.m.

The fog is affecting the entire Central Savannah River Area, and visibility is reduced to less than a quarter-mile in some areas.

“This will impact driving during the evening commute, so please slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance in ahead of you,” forecasters said.
