Religion seminar planned

The Order of Saint Helena, an Episcopal convent in Augusta, will host a seminar on Islam, Sufism and Rumi featuring the Rev. Lynn C. Bauman.

Bauman is the director of the Praxis Retreat and Learning Center in Texas. He lived for ten years in the Middle East, including seven years in Iran, where he studied Sufism and Islamic spirituality. He has authored several books and frequently lectures on comparative religion, Islamic philosophy, Near Eastern studies, Christian and world spirituality.

While in Augusta, Bauman will present a three-day program called Light Upon Light: An Introduction to Islam, Sufism and Rumi. It begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 10 through 1 p.m. Feb. 12.

The program, part of the Saint Helena Series for Spiritual Growth, will be held at the convent, 3042 Eagle Drive, Augusta.

The cost is $125, with an advance deposit of $65 required.
