The Augusta area has a 100 percent chance of rain today that’s expected to move in by mid-morning.
According to the Meteorologist Tim Hawks of the National Weather Service in Columbia, there is also a chance of thunderstorms with the rain as well as wind gusts up to 25 mph.
“The temperature should also drop about 10 degrees to 61-62 by afternoon,” Hawks said.
The chances of rain will continue to diminish throughout the day, falling to 50 percent by afternoon and 20 percent after sunset.
The rest of the week is expected to be dry and party cloudy, but a cold front moving through from the North Thursday evening is expected drop temperatures below the 70-degree mark seen over the last week.
Friday’s high are expected to be around 48 degrees. Saturday and Sunday will see only a slight warm up as temperatures inch into the 50s.
