A 23-year-old is in the Richmond County Jail after police say he was shot during an armed robbery at a hair salon Jan. 3.

Rico Lathrez Casey, 23, was booked into the jail Monday on charges of obstruction of a law enforcement officer, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, armed robbery, running a red light, failure to maintain lane, speeding, attempting to elude an office and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Authorities said Casey and an accomplice entered Salon Batique, 2620 Milledgeville Road, on Jan. 3 and demanded money at gunpoint.

A salon employee, Daric Johnson, 28, pulled a handgun and shot Casey in the leg.

Casey is also a suspect in a Nov. 14 home invasion. No charges have been filed while authorities continue to question the suspect.

According to an incident report, a man, identified by the victim as Casey, and an accomplice forced their way into an apartment on the 4000 block of Wheeler Woods Road.

The victim told authorities the man he believed to be Casey shot him in the leg and then left with his electronics.
