Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue firefighters were called about 4:30 p.m. to 6251 Duke Road in Harlem after a neighbor saw flames coming from the residence.
The homeowner, Robert Crewsonberry, said he was headed to a hotel when he received a call telling him the home was on fire again.
Firefighters had been to the home the night before, about 11 p.m., because of a fire they believe started in a electrical panel. A still-unidentified resident of the home suffered smoke inhalation and received minor injuries when she broke out a window to escape the fire. She was treated at an area hospital and later released.
The fire, thought to have been extinguished, apparently rekindled Monday and burned through the attic before firefighters brought it under control. The single-story, vinyl-sided home likely is a total loss.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
