Ga. bandit uses pepper spray to rob woman

EAST POINT, Ga. — East Point police are investigating a robbery in which pepper spray was used as a weapon.

A woman told police she was sprayed with the pepper spray and then robbed of her purse outside a bank.

City spokesman James Hammond tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the woman was attacked as she was entering the Wells Fargo Bank on East Point Street shortly before noon on Monday.

Hammond said the suspect wore a yellow baseball-style cap, colorful shirt and blue jeans.

He said the man fled on foot, but a red sedan was seen speeding away from the area moments after the robbery.
