Beech Island searched for missing woman

Tonya Wilds, 44, is missing out of Beech Island.

Aiken County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a missing person in the Beech Island area.

Tonya Wilds, 44, disappeared from her home on the 60 block of Riverbend Drive around noon Tuesday, according to Capt. Troy Elwell.

She has a mental disability and functions at about an 8- to 10-year-old level. She was last seen wearing a long-sleeve black shirt and jogging pants, Elwell said.

Elwell said the sheriff’s office has called in the airplane and bloodhound units, along with a South Carolina Law Enforcement Division helicopter.
