Augusta dodged significant rainfall on Monday and temperatures stretched into the low 70s bringing many outside to soak up the January paradise.

Rick Flinchum strummed his guitar with a gentle afternoon sun shining on his face. The weather brought him back to Riverwalk for the first time in years.

“I’d like to do this everyday. It’s inspiration,” the amateur songwriter from Evans said.

Monday’s temperature was shy of a record 78 degrees set in 1949, said Meteorologist Tony Petrolito.

The National Weather Service predicted a 60 percent chance of rain Tuesday evening. Additional rainfall is forecast Wednesday and possibly Thursday, with accumulations of a quarter to a half-inch.

Colder weather and clear skies are expected to return by the weekend.
