FLORENCE, S.C. — Police say a man has been shot and killed after a home invasion in Florence.

Investigators said three men banged on the back door of the home around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, and were let in by the victim’s daughter.

Authorities say one of the men fired three shots at 49-year-old Michael Hawkins, killing him. The daughter was taken to another room by a different suspect and was not harmed.

Investigators say the suspects quickly left the house after the shooting, and they are trying to figure out if the men took anything.

Hawkins volunteered for several community organizations in Florence.
