3 SC forest trails closing for season

COLUMBIA — As the new year begins, the National Forest Service is closing three off-road vehicle trails in the Sumter National Forest in the western part of South Carolina.

The closures begin on Monday. The trails will reopen on March 30.

Forest supervisor Paul Bradley says the trails are closed annually because winter is the rainy season. Crews use the three months to repair the trails, and the closures keep the paths from getting more damaged with vehicles driving over wet ground.

The three trails are the Parson’s Mountain and Cedar Springs trails in Abbeville County and the Enoree trail in Laurens County.
