Richmond County authorities are searching for a suspect after a vehicle crashed into an apartment complex Tuesday evening.

According to Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Carrier, the victim told officers he was meeting with two men in a vehicle in the West Eagle Greens apartment complex on Boy Scout Road to sell them marijuana around 9:50 p.m. when the men pulled out handguns and robbed him.

After the victim escaped, he told officers he heard five shots from the vehicle as it chased him through the parking lot.

Nearby officers who heard the shots chased the vehicle until it crashed into one of the buildings.

Both of the occupants in the vehicle fled, Carrier said. No one was injured.

Authorities are searching for one of the suspects identified as 27-year-old Derrick Tolbert.
