VAN WYCK, S.C. — Authorities say a wrecked car with three people dead inside apparently sat for days before railroad workers in Lancaster County found it.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports that Lancaster County Coroner Mike Morris says the wreck apparently happened sometime on Christmas Eve before it was found down a steep embankment in the Van Wyck community on Tuesday.

Morris says the victims are 48-year-old Darrell Christopher Fisher; his sister, 47-year-old Jerilyn Fisher; and his son, 16-year-old William Fisher. Darrell Fisher and his son lived in the community of Catawba straddling the line between York and Chester counties. Jerilyn Fisher lived in Rock Hill.

Investigators are still working to determine what may have caused the crash.

So sad. On Christmas Eve.

So sad. On Christmas Eve. This is going to be such a hard time of year for their family. Lord have mercy. Three family members at the same time. No words.
