A man was robbed at gunpoint on his porch Saturday morning.

Antonio Ferguson of the 1700 block of Verdery Street said he was sitting on his porch around 3:30 a.m. when two men ran up to him and demanded he give them all his money, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

Ferguson said he fought with the men until one pulled out a handgun and instructed him to lie on the ground. Ferguson then went after the gun and the man struck him on the head with the pistol multiple times until the gun went off, the report said.

The men fled.

Ferguson was not shot, but was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital and had to get stitches for the wound on his head.

Awesome! The victim fought

Awesome! The victim fought back, even if he did ultimately lose. But he didn't lose his life, and he has more dignity and bravery than the thieves ever will. I hope the next victim (you know these clowns will do this again) has more luck and ventilates the both of them.

What trumps a handgun? A great big gun, that is what the people in the Augusta area will have with them when walking, sitting on their porch, etc. The people are getting sick of the crime and are starting to fight back.

Yep. Too bad he didn't have a gun of his own and smoked 'em when they became agressive. I would rather see a cultural change, but since that isn't in the cards, fight fire with fire. It is the only thing thugs understand.

itsanotherday, are you a police officer? How would shooting the robbers go over with officers that come to the scene if the shooting takes place outside of the home? Do not get me wrong, I think he should have shot them on the spot and not called the police until they lost all their blood or if they were killed instantly. I do not have any sympathy for or do not care what happens to people like the robbers. Give the man a medal and put me on the jury. I would never find him or her guilty.

When Danny Craig was DA he let that 80 year old guy go for shooting the crook breaking into his backyard shed. Officer Roscoe Rules, in the Choirboys said when it comes to a dangerous situation, just do something and let them sort it all out later.

JRC2024, it would go over just fine. It is perfectly legal to use deadly force against invaders to your property who threaten bodily harm. Not a jury in the the U.S. would have found this man guilty if he had pulled a weapon and killed the two ARMED scumbags trying to rob him on his porch.

I had an interesting conversation about this same subject last night with a friend of mine. He said that a home invader could have whatever he wanted out of his house as long as he did not cross the threshold of the room he and his wife were in. In other words, unless he or his wife were personally threatened he would not kill an intruder.

After thinking about it, I agree with him. Insurance will replace my "stuff", but getting into a potential gunfight or taking a life isn't worth "stuff".

When I sit on my front porch

When I sit on my front porch I always have a weapon within reach. As far as using it goes, if I felt threatened, I would not hesitate. Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.

Time for these thugs to take the "eternal dirt nap." They will never hurt anyone again. I have no sympathy or compassion for them. I am, however, glad the victim wasn't killed by these thugs.

Antonio Ferguson is my first

Antonio Ferguson is my first cousin and it is so hard for me to read this because no one told me about this prior. I live in a different city now. My cousin is a good person and doesn't deserve to be attack by anyone for any reason. Vengence belongs to the Lord our GOD. It is a terrible situation, but I'm so glad it's not worst. Stop the violence Augusta!!!
