MARIETTA, Ga. — A Georgia woman on her way to a hospital ended up giving birth on the pavement outside a fire station.

Brett and Elizabeth Young were trying to make it to Northside Hospital outside Atlanta Wednesday when the baby had other plans.

Brett Young tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he called 911, and dispatchers told him to drive to Fire Station 19 in Cobb County.

He tells CBS Atlanta his is wife lay down on the concrete as firefighters opened the doors. The new father says he could see the baby’s head coming out, so he grabbed her.

Authorities say 4-pound, 12-ounch Fiona was doing fine after firefighters quickly got her out of the cold and into an ambulance for the ride to the hospital.

I wonder if the doctor will

I wonder if the doctor will share some of the delivery fee with the firemen. Kudos to our emergency service workers who are always available when needed!

It's a looooong drive from Marietta to Northside when you're in labor. I can attest! Too bad the "baby factory" can't claim this as one of their 60+ births per day.
