Train kills man near Columbia zoo

COLUMBIA — Authorities say a man was killed after he was struck by a train near the zoo in Columbia.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says 24-year-old David J. Fraccalvieri of Columbia died at around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday after he was struck by a train just outside the Riverbanks Zoo.

Watts says an autopsy shows Fraccalvieri died from injuries from the crash.

Richland County authorities and officials from CSX, the train company, are still investigating the case. No one else was hurt.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity
