CONYERS, Ga. — A dog has been reunited with its family after surviving seven days while trapped in an abandoned well with no food or water.

Melissa Johnson tells CBS Atlanta that family members found her Rottweiler mix, Leslie, in the 20-foot deep well in Rockdale County on Saturday.

Fire Battalion Chief Ray Prewitt said the dog didn’t appear to be injured, and was walking in circles around the bottom of the well as they tried to figure out how to get her out.

Lt. Matt Troutman climbed into the well with a ladder and secured a harness on the dog.

Video of the rescue obtained by CBS Atlanta shows the dog being lifted to the surface with a rope.
