SC mother's body found near infant in car

ANDERSON, S.C. — Authorities say the body of a 42-year-old woman has been found near a car in Anderson with her 7-month-old son still strapped in his car seat.

Investigators said Cynthia Charping died from a blow to the head before she was found near an abandoned house around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say the baby was unharmed and taken into the custody of the South Carolina Department of Social Services.

Anderson County deputies are investigating the death as a homicide. They have not named any suspects or given a possible motive for the killing.
