Marshall, a football and track star from Millbrook High in Raleigh, N.C., said at a news conference at his school on Tuesday he chose Georgia over Clemson.

Rivals.com, Scout.com and The Sporting News rank Marshall as their No. 1 running back prospect.

This is the second straight year Georgia has landed one of the nation's top running backs. Isaiah Crowell, from Carver High in Columbus, led No. 18 Georgia in rushing this season and on Monday was named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Year by The Associated Press.

Marshall says he will enroll at the University of Georgia in January.

Great news...since I didn't

Great news...since I didn't expect Crowell to even finish at Georgia. Now if they can get Crowell healthy and have him grow up and follow team rules the dogs might have a running game that would raise some eyebrows.

Things are definitely looking

Things are definitely looking up. He said he chose UGA because of Coach Richt. Good decision.

Two side points. It means

Two side points. It means Crowell will leave. It also shows the power of Clemson recruiting now. They have made tremendous inroads in GA, FL, NC and VA. Not having the state name attached to the school helps I believe.

"It means Crowell will

"It means Crowell will leave." Not necessarily. Although rumors have him struggling academically.

JTF, he appears to be having trouble and the incident with Richt who is now saying there is going to be competition at his spot. Clemson is another conference. Ya think?

"Clemson is another

"Clemson is another conference. Ya think?" You lost me?? Crowell would still have to sit out a year...which is an eternity for him to get in trouble. You need to have more than one back these days (see Latimore or Crowell for that matter). Also, see Clemson in 2008 and 2009. Spiller and Davis coexisted pretty darn well.

JTF, Clemson is in another

JTF, Clemson is in another conference. If a player is given a release by his coach, he doesn't have to sit out a year if he goes to another conference...I think.

I'm reminded of the NC State

I'm reminded of the NC State QB, Russell Wilson, who went to Wisconsin without sitting out.

Lemon, I think it's a fine line. Has he actually signed anything? I mean he's going to UGA, but, technically Right on was, well, right on.

Hmm Russell Wilson, again

Hmm Russell Wilson, again River, you appear to be correct. The deal with Crowell is suspect. Bad attitude, bad student, injury prone. Maybe he just needs to grow up a little. We'll see. No doubting his talent. Hope he doesn't waste it.

Russell Wilson was allowed to

Russell Wilson was allowed to transfer without sitting out because he was in his 5th year of eligibility and had already received his degree. Thus he was exempt from the rule. His situation had nothing to do with switching conferences. Stephen Garcia was in the same situation this year but chose to stay at USC.

RM may be correct in that there may also be an exemption for players switching conferences with the coaches blessing.

Carl, honestly, I just read

Carl, honestly, I just read the NCAA website and am still not sure. The exceptions are confusing so I'll go back to what I've heard in the past. If the player goes from D-1 to subdivision, bossa nova, whatever you call it, he can play immediately. Remember David Rivers the former Lakeside QB who played at UVA and beat Ga Tech that game? He went to Western Carolina his last year.

I also remember reading something about switching conferences if the coach lets him go and not having to sit out. But, you made a great point about Russell being a 5th year senior so I'm not sure. That Southern Cal player who came to UGA had to sit out a year..right?
