Georgia Tech student robbed

ATLANTA — A Georgia Tech student told police he was attacked and robbed as he walked home from campus early today.

Atlanta police tell CBS Atlanta that he was a few blocks from his home on Tumlin Street in northwest Atlanta when two men in a gold Toyota got out of their car and approached him. Police say one of the men was armed with a handgun.

He told police he was kicked and punched in the head, and his cell phone and wallet were stolen.

Georgia Institute of Technology officials this year have taken several steps to enhance security after a series of crimes on and near the Atlanta campus. The crimes have included reported robberies and sexual assaults.
