PHENIX CITY, Ala. — The 78-year-old father of Muscogee County District Attorney Julia Slater has been charged in Phenix City with enticing a child.

Lee County Sheriff’s Capt. Van Jackson says Charles Arthur Fessenden made his $5,000 bond on Saturday, the same day he was booked into the Lee County jail,.

Phenix City Police Capt. Frank Ivey says the allegations were reported from Glenwood School, a private school in Phenix City.

Ivey says Fessenden went voluntarily to the Phenix City Police Department on Friday.

Slater declined to say what she knew of the accusations. She told the Columbus-Ledger-Enquirer that she has faith in the justice system and stands by her father.

Fessenden is well known in Columbus as a longtime volunteer in arts organizations.
