Suspect drives off with Atlanta EMTs in ambulance

ATLANTA -- When a Grady Memorial Hospital ambulance crew arrived in Buckhead early Saturday to treat an intoxicated man found lying in the street, little did they know they would end up on a wild ride.

Atlanta police told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that a friend of the drunken man hopped behind the wheel of the ambulance and drove away while the emergency medical technicians tended to the drunken man in the back.

The driver allegedly struck a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk as he left the roadway while turning onto Roswell Road. The identity of the pedestrian who was hurt was not available, but police say the pedestrian was in stable condition.
