A woman is dead and a child is in the hospital after a wreck on Mike Padgett Highway Tuesday evening.

She was identified this morning as Marquieta R. Cribbs, 30, of Mike Padgett Highway.

Richmond County Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen said she was pulling out of Castle Pines mobile home park and trying to head north when she crossed the double-yellow line and struck a logging truck.

She was declared dead on the scene. Bowen said she had a child with her who was transported to Medical College of Georgia Hospital.

He said the reason she crossed the yellow line is unknown, pending an investigation.

My prayers go out to both the family of the lady, but also to the truck driver. That is not an easy thing to deal with when a car come at you head on and you do everything you can to stop with about 80,000 pounds behind you.
