Thieves steal tires off SC cop car

  • Follow Latest News

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. — The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office is in the market for a new set of tires, thanks to some audacious thieves who left a cruiser up on blocks.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports that the manager of the Mr. Sign business in Summerville found the vehicle in his lot Tuesday morning. The car was on cinder blocks, its brand new tires gone.

Police had taken the new cruiser to Mr. Sign so it could be detailed with badges and other markings. Shop manager Jamie Lucarelli says the thieves apparently brought the cinder blocks with them and made off with the tires despite the store being in a well-lit, busy area.

The tires are worth about $1,600.

Investigators say they have not yet identified any suspects.

Why do "professional"

Why do "professional" journalists resort to slang words in their reporting? Maybe it's just me, but the use of the wording "cop car" is very unprofessional. Wouldn't the use of "patrol car" or "police car" be more professional? And people attend schools to become journalists?

Can't help but laugh but bet

Can't help but laugh but bet the thieves won't be when all said and done.

PS: Cops paid WAY to much for the tires!

The cops did pay way too much

The cops did pay way too much for the tires. I bought a set last year for my corvette, and they were only $1,000, and they are rated to over 185 mph... or so Ive heard :)
