Atlanta area Dollar General duped in 'racial profile' scam

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Christopher Allen Brooks, the manager of the Stockbridge Dollar General, told police a woman calling herself "Ms. Woods" came into his store around 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 and told him that she was owed a refund for items she had bought at a Jonesboro Dollar General store and that the manager from the Jonesboro store would call and verify she was owed the money.

Shortly thereafter, Brooks received a call from a ‘Shanna' who claimed to be the store manager at the Jonesboro Dollar General. Shanna asked Brooks to give the customer $530.92.

Shanna told Brooks that the customer, whom she called Ms. Woods, had bought six comforter sets and six sheet sets at the Jonesboro store a week earlier but had been overcharged for the items.

Shanna continued, saying that when Ms. Woods called the Jonesboro store to inquire about the overcharge, the customer overheard the cashier who rung up the items call Ms. Woods "a dirty low-down N-word" and that "ever since Obama got into office black people think they can do anything."

Shanna,  the fake manager, told Brooks that Ms. Woods had retained counsel to sue the store and had been in contact with Dollar General regional offices.

The store manager would go on to comply with the Sept. 5 request, but did not call for confirmation until afterward   and found the story was false.

The store manager should be
Unpublished

The store manager should be TERMINATED immediately for falling for such a lame scam. Once again the "entitlement mentality" and using the race card has scared a white person into immediate submission out of fear of being labeled a racist. Political correctness in the long run is costing blacks more than the small gains they think they are getting by using it for a quick gain. This criminal is going to be judged by the content of her character and not her skin color when she is apprehended.....as we ALL should be.

Stuff like this is a good

Stuff like this is a good reason to revamp our criminal conviction categories to Guilty, Not Guilty, Guilty but Clever, Guilty and Stupid, Not Guilty but Stupid, etc.

If a person lowers themselves through the skylight of the National Museum of Art, slinks around a bunch of laser beams with retro-mirrors and steals the Hope Diamond: Guilty but Clever; 1/3 time off.

If a person writes a bank robbery note on the back of one of their old paycheck stubs: Guilty and Stupid; add 1/3 time.

The above crime falls under the Guilty but Clever and the store manager is Not Guilty but Stupid.

This is crazy! First off they need to track the phone number and verify the call didn't come from the other store as as previous post said investigate that store manager. And the Manager that issued the refund is stupid there is no way I would accepted a call over the phone. The scams people come up with!

If that doesn't speak to the flagrant racial bias blacks have towards caucasians, there isn't a cow in Texas.

This is only redistribution

This is only redistribution of wealth. Get used to it. The company had more than it needed so,why not redistrbute it? Anyone that has more than they NEED should have their assets taken for redistibution to the people.

The manager is either

The manager is either guilty/stupid, or just plain guilty. For one thing he had plenty of time to verify this so-called transaction before issuing it (he called his manager after the fact). And there had to be some paperwork or refund info filled out other than just a phone call since the stores would have to account for the transfer of items and/or money. Sounds fishy to me.

OK who said Brooks was black?
Unpublished

OK who said Brooks was black? It was a scam, it was a scam of guilt the worst kind of scam. The flip side to guilt is identify. So either way Brooks was scammed. A solid scam it to make you feel guilty because you are identified with a group that is undesirable to the accuser. If the scammer and the scammed are of the same ilk then they identify with the scammed and make they feel like they are getting even with the group identified as bad. Easy con game.

Well if I was the manager

Well if I was the manager ain't nobody gettin no money (and I mean to say it that way) from my store without me having some paper or an order from a higher up first. If he was scammed, I'm sorry to hear about it, but it could have completely been avoided. These people target small stores like this but this would never fly at Walmart or Target.

Doesn't it seem strange, that

Doesn't it seem strange, that according tothe article,"Shortly thereafter, Brooks received a call from a ‘Shanna' who claimed to be the store manager at the Jonesboro Dollar General." Wouldn't he be the one to initiate the call to the Jonesboro store? I do contract work for a company that does business with Dollar General, and it seems that their qualifications for store manangers are that they can fog up a mirror, and speak English. These store managers are not people who you would like to invite to lunch.

Time to find a manager with some common sense. He's giving away money because of a phone call that he didn't even initiate? Not too bright.

eagle: Obviously you did not read my comments. Any one with common sense is automatically eliminated from consideration at Dollar General.

For anybody to cough over

For anybody to cough over this much money without written verification is utterly stupid! And this person is in a management position with Dollar Tree! This tells us a lot about the education and intelligence of their management staff. You obviously don't need to be very smart to manage a Dollar Tree!
