A 29-year-old Georgia man was shot to death early this morning, authorities said.

Buchanan Marshall of Flowery Branch, an Atlanta suburb, was shot at least once in the 1800 block of Cooney Circle. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:40 a.m., said Richmond County Chief Deputy Coroner Mark Bowen.

Bowen said the location of the gunshot wound on Marshall's body won't be immediately disclosed because of the ongoing investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Augusta laboratory.

You may want to notice that

You may want to notice that there is generally a common denominator for most of the shootings and they are not unique to Augusta.

All of you are insensitive.

All of you are insensitive. A man is dead, where is the respect? I am so sorry for the loss and the damage it has caused his family.

Patty P.. He/she is saying

Patty P.. He/she is saying the homicide happen in the hood off Olive rd.

Also, this makes 18 homicides this year which is not much higher than some surrounding counties.. I know you would love for Augusta to have more homicides in 2011 compared to last year, but it won't happen.

Why is it ok for shots to fire in a ghetto....patty is correct in her feeling of sadness for Augusta & crime....she has seen it first hand & so have others.....some are just tired of being afraid,...especially the older group. BTW seniors live in ghettos too.....

so if I am seeing this

so if I am seeing this correct, a young lady's life was tragically taken near Thomson/Glascock County and sympathies are poured out in masses.

A young male is gunned down and your response regarding having sympathy is "...Not really, though I will withhold any sympathies until I see details. I'm not hopeful, considering where it happened."

Racism is alive and well in this county and country, though nobody is willing to admit to it.

The reason the comments came

The reason the comments came out about the female inThomson was because of the cruel facts surrounding the case ...most..including me didn't even know the race of the woman until pics were posted much later---soooo your comment is typical jibberish..it is getting soo old.
Read Herman Cains statement about blacks leaning on race problems & holding on to crap that holds them back from greatness.

SB4...I don't follow Cain nor

SB4...I don't follow Cain nor does he speak for me. I am very capable of doing that on my own. You would be foolish to think that racial problems do not exist in this world today but nobody wants to personally acknowledge it.

I am tired of everytime young blacks get shot the comments always racial. There was no need to bring up the word "ghetto" in these comments and aim it at a group of people who had nothing to do with the shooting.

There was no class generalization when commenter remarked on the previously mentioned story in Thomson. Only condolences. I feel the same needs to be done here. Show your condolences or keep it moving.

They do exist. Fact is blacks are taught racism by leaders in the black communities and black churches. They are taught to see everything as racist.

I wish you all would realize

I wish you all would realize that no matter where this happened, there is still a family grieving and still a life lost way too young. Considering no details regarding the suspect have been released, and I happen to know the guy that was killed, and he was white, so I am not quite sure where your racism comments come into play.

blakone.....I can't even put my feelngs on here about the class of people involved in the Thomson dragging...if I did I probably would be banned for life.....class comes in all colors---intelligence comes in all colors---honesty also.....I think H Cain shows class & intelligence & understanding to all races........& he can keep his cool when certain tv heads are blasting him....not an easy thing to do...he isn't my choice for President but should he become the nominee I would vote for him..I think he could probably do what some thought Obama would do.....make this a better country.

"Last I heard the victim is

"Last I heard the victim is white. This shouldn't have anything to do with race."

PattyP...this is my point exactly. because the victim is white race all of a sudden is not a factor. but on all other stories where the victim was african american, race IS a factor and it gets mentioned.

I wish that we could just say respects for the fallen and move on instead of making generalizations and making comments about a group of people.

I wish the AC did not allow these types of comments to be posted.

I would vote for Herman Cain.

I would vote for Herman Cain. I would not vote for Obama under any circumstance. That Herman Cain is black is not an issue. It's the ideology. For most people, that's ALL it ever is. NOT COLOR.

And seenitB4, you are correct in your assessment about people. Color has no corner on honesty, integrity, and character.

blakkone, if my remark was

blakkone, if my remark was offensive to you, please accept my apologies. It was not meant to be, but looking back, I can understand how you could have interpreted it as such. The commonality of the majority of the shootings has more to do with wrong place, wrong time. I spoke of it, because as a community, we should not become overly fearful. I feel great compassion for others regardless of the circumstances.

Willow...your remark was not offensive to me, in fact, i understand your position on the matter and somewhat agree. What set me off was a commenter with an insensitive remark which I quoted in my 8:09 a.m. post.

That comment has since been removed so I guess I'm not the only person who thought is was insensitive and unnecessary.

Vito...if you are referring to my 8:09 post quoting your comment (which is now removed, what does that tell you?) i never mentioned race of the male in this story. I said "...young male..." Therefore, my "race card" was never thrown out. However, its on my hip with my hand on it ready to throw it out like an NFL coach and his red challenge flag.
