Railroad crews rebuilding Richmond County crossings

Railroad crossings across Richmond County will be closed during the week while crews rebuild them.

The east crossing on Dan Bowles Road and the crossing on Nixon Road will be closed through 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Drivers can avoid the Dan Bowles Road closure by using Gordon Highway and can avoid the Nixon Road closure by using Old Savannah Road and Gordon Highway or Mike Padgett Parkway.

The east railroad crossing on Lumpkin Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Drivers can avoid the closure by using Mike Padgett or Doug Barnard Parkway.

The Marvin Griffin crossing will also be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Drivers can avoid the area by using Perkins Road, Mike Padgett or Doug Barnard Parkway.

The crossing on Doug Barnard Parkway between Doug Barnard Parkway and International Boulevard at Augusta Newsprint will be closed for repaving from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

On Thursday, crossings at Laney Walker Boulevard, between New Savannah Road and Seventh Street, and 4-H Club Road will be closed starting at 9 a.m.

Closures on 4-H Road could extend through Friday morning.
