SC fire truck donation announced

Savannah River Site recently bought two new fire trucks – and today donated one of its old ones to the Allendale (S.C.) Fire & Rescue squad.

Under a surplus property program administered by the SRS Community Reuse Organization, the vehicle was first offered to local departments with up-to-date mutual aid agreements with the SRS fire department.

The fire department intends to use the donated truck to benefit the entire county of Allendale by lowering Insurance Service Office rating for its citizens.
