Ga. McDonald's boss punches mom with service dog, cops say

  • Follow Latest News

ATLANTA — A McDonald's manager in the Atlanta area is accused of punching a mother after she brought her autistic children and a service dog inside the restaurant, authorities said.

Tiffany Denise Allen is charged with simple battery, simple assault and disorderly conduct, according to a Cobb County warrant.

Jennifer Schwenker entered the McDonald's in Marietta with her twins and service dog on July 12. Allen, who was off-duty at the time, became angry that the dog was inside, the warrant states. Police say Allen followed the mother around the restaurant, then punched her in the face in the parking lot.

Surveillance video shows McDonald's employees trying to restrain their co-worker, police wrote in the warrant.

J.M. and Jan Owens, who operate the store on Bells Ferry Road, said they're cooperating with police.

"At our McDonald's restaurant, we respect and value our customers. Their safety and well-being is always a top priority," they said in a statement to The Associated Press.

"We strive to comply with all applicable laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act," they said. "It is our policy to make our restaurants accessible to all customers, including those with disabilities and special needs, whether or not they need the assistance of service animals."

A phone listing for Allen could not be located. McDonald's officials say that she is no longer employed by the Oak Brook, Ill.-based company.

Good Morning,

Good Morning, Patty-P!

Particularly, while traveling outside of the CSRA, I have noticed a huge difference between the way the workers at McDonald's treat me and that of other fast food restaurants. I am not surprised by this at all. I continue to be impressed by the model of service and respect from Chick Fil A employees.

Chic filet has THE best service of any fast food restaraunt that I know of. And they are closed on Sunday. That should tell you something.

Chic Fil A should market

Chic Fil A should market their employee training program and make it available to all others in the service industry.

So many accuse corporations

So many accuse corporations of greed, yet Chic Fil A closes on Sunday in spite of the extra revenue that could be realized for that 7th day. Their religious convictions benefit the employees by giving them a guaranteed day off to do as they please, not as the company directs. Having that day off and working for a company that cares probably has a lot to do with the level of service you receive at Chic Fil A.

Isn't that what liberals want? Take care of the worker? High standards in safety, quality, generosity with charities?............... Why then, are they in the cross hairs of the liberals?

Chic Fil A please.

Thats what I should have done

Thats what I should have done to the Manager at Mickey D on Gerogia Ave., in North Augusta, back in April. Instead, I did nothing AND am still banned from there. So, for Mickey D's to say they value their customers, is bunk!

Not all fast food places are

Not all fast food places are bad, I stop at the Mcdonalds in Evans several time a week for tea or coffee and all of the employees there are always friendly and smilng. Also the Long Johns on HWY 1 has very friendly service. I think it all comes down to management, if management doesn't care then the employees don't care.

Am I the only one who read the headline? It sounds like the manager picked up the dog and hit the mom with it.

Comparing Chick-Filet to

Comparing Chick-Filet to McDonalds is not even comprehensible.

McDonalds service, cleanliness, and staff in general is a joke. Their food is ok at best.
