USC freshman linebacker arrested

COLUMBIA — An incoming South Carolina freshman linebacker has been charged with underage drinking in Columbia.

Police said 18-year-old Edward Muldrow was in the Five Points entertainment district last Thursday when an officer noticed him with a bottle of beer. Authorities say Muldrow tossed the bottle into the bushes when the officer asked him to come over.

Police say Muldrow gave the officer his name, and was charged with underage drinking and littering.

Under university policy, athletes who are arrested are immediately suspended.

SO WHAT !!!! Why is this even

SO WHAT !!!! Why is this even newsworthy. This is an ongoing event. Just because he is a football player it makes the news. College students drink... Get the heck over it. He did not kill someone, rape someone, beat up someone or have an accident while under the influence. Suspend him for what? Being young and having a good time. Yeah you don't need to have alcohol to have a good time. When we were that age and in college it was legal for us to drink. So he got caught. Put him in community service and even suspend him for a game. But why shame yourself by allowing this to hit the media....

C'mon...calm down JAndy!

C'mon...calm down JAndy! This is USC you're talking about here. This is the home of Andy Garcia, remember? He's been suspended and reinstated so many times it makes your head spin! Garcia will call him up, give him some legal tips he's learned, and the kid will be back in uniform before the summer is over! Garcia has done this so many times, he's going to become one of those "One call...That's all!" lawyers!!

OOPS: " 'I' BEFORE 'E' except after 'C'." "(C)oncieved" should read "conceived."

J, I agree. My child goes to

J,

I agree. My child goes to a local college. He got caught He does have some "college" community service to pull and some liberties have been taken away. However, I did not see it in the local paper. I too believe somethings should be handled without the notification of the press.
