MACON, Ga. -- A Monroe County judge has resigned from his position with Forsyth Municipal Court after he was arrested on DUI charges in Bibb County.
The Macon Telegraph reports that Chief Magistrate Judge Jeffery Davis was pulled over at a license safety check on Ga. 87 near the Bibb County-Monroe County line early Saturday morning.
Davis, a former law enforcement official, refused sobriety tests, said Davis' attorney Dustin Buttigieg. He was booked at the Bibb County jail at 1:15 a.m. and was released at 2:22 a.m. on a $1,850 bond, said Sgt. Sean DeFoe, Bibb County sheriff's public information officer.
Davis, who has retained his position as Monroe County magistrate judge, sent in a notice of resignation to Forsyth City Hall midday Sunday, Buttigieg said. The city position involved ruling on DUI cases.
