A lane of Interstate 20 in Columbia County was briefly closed this morning after a single car wreck that sent an Augusta woman to the hospital.

Satonya Perry, 40, fell asleep at about 6 a.m., while driving her Chevrolet Impala east on I-20 between Belair and Lewiston roads, Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris said.

Perry’s car drifted into the median and hit several trees and rolled over. First responders had to extricate Perry from her car.

She was sent to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Morris said.
