EDGEFIELD, S.C. -- A 64-year-old Edgefield County woman became the county’s fifth traffic fatality of 2011 after her car crashed violently near a bridge around 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to Edgefield County Deputy Coroner David Burnett, 64-year-old Linda Morgan’s white Nissan Altima left the roadway near a bridge on Walker Road before sliding past the guard rail and eventually coming to rest in a deep gully.

Mr. Burnett placed the time of death at 8:15 p.m., stating that Ms. Morgan died of “body trauma and internal injuries” due to the crash.

No autopsy has been scheduled at this time.
