2 charged after Augusta robbery

Authorities have charged two men that they suspect jumped a 54-year-old on Twiggs Street and took his money.

 The victim told authorities he was walking home around 10 p.m. Thursday when the two men, who he recognized from the neighborhood, jumped him on the1500 block of Twiggs Street, said Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew.

 Authorities said the victim was beaten and suffered bruising and a cut to the hand before the suspects took money and fled.

 While en route to the scene, a deputy recognized the suspects from the description and transported them to the victim for identification, Chew said.

 They were identified as Rodney Cornell Jackson, 43, of the 1100 block of Anderson Avenue, and Timothy Jerome Wilson, 37, of the 1100 block of Roselle Street. Both were charged with robbery by force.
