DULUTH, Ga. -— Gwinnett County police say a 16-year-old has been charged with vehicular homicide and hit-and-run in the death of a 9-year-old girl who was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street.

Police say Gracelle Sanders of Lawrenceville was killed when she stepped onto Club Drive near Duluth Tuesday night and into the path of a 2001 Mazda Tribute.

They say the driver kept going after the accident and stopped at a convenience store to try to clean the front of the SUV, then called police and filed a false accident report.

Officers say they arrested a Lawrenceville teenager, who was being held at a juvenile detention center.
