I don't know how many more of

I don't know how many more of these stories I can bear. Are we as society failing these babies? Should there be a billboard on every corner and a PSA on every channel saying before you reach the point of no return, call someone, leave the house ...anything except take it out on your child? Something? Because I don't know how many more of these stories I can bear.

There have been several times

There have been several times that I, as a mother of five healthy children, have had to put the screaming baby in a crib and walk outside for a few minutes of quiet. A screaming baby who cannot be comforted can be a lot for anyone to handle- add to that mental illness, drug use, or just plain ignorance of the parent, and horrible things can happen. PSA's only work for those who watch or listen. When poor, uneducated children begin having children (not to imply that only the poor and uneducated shake their babies to death, but the statistics do show that instances are higher as a group for younger parents living in poverty than any other group) then this is what happens. That poor baby only needed someone to love it, and this "father" deserves to get what he gave.
