Peach Orchard resident reports duck theft

  • Follow Crime & courts

A 15-pound brown duck was stolen from a woman’s home on Peach Orchard Road on Sunday.

The 50-year-old victim told a Richmond County sheriff’s deputy that she locked her chicken coop and believes someone removed the duck without her consent between 7:30 p.m.  and 11 p.m., a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office report said.

The duck is valued at $25.

Boy, odd stuff happening

Boy, odd stuff happening around here. People stealing money from piggy banks? Ducks? Maybe he left on his own recognizance to audition for the new AFLAC voice? I'd like to imagine that anyway because I don't like to consider the alternative. :-( Hope the duck is recovered unharmed.

How does she know it wasn't

How does she know it wasn't stolen after 11pm? Did she tuck it in for the night? Also, it says the victim was 50 years old and 15 pounds.... Just how long do ducks live anyway?

Piggy banks, ducks, boy what

Piggy banks, ducks, boy what news. I wouldn't take up a deputy's time for that. They have enough to do.

The VICTIM is 50 years old, EINSTEIN, not the freaking duck. (perfect username for that one)

If that's the best the Chronicle can come up with, they need to refrain. Can just see visitors from around the world laughing their butts off at po-dunk Augusta.

The Chronicle will not print

The Chronicle will not print any real news during Masters Week. There was a Shooting last nite and as you can see for yourself there is no mention of it in the paper. Nobody wants Augusta to look bad during Masters Week.

For real, there was a shooting and no one reported it? That isn't right, no matter what week it is. I appreciate the Masters and all it does for our community and the local economy, but crime should be reported as normal.

Well the normal crime reports

Well the normal crime reports are even more biased.... People have to realize the media chooses what articles they wish to print..

95% of the crimes reported by the Chronicle happen in Richmond county... The Chronicle deliberately chooses to print 100% of the tribunals reported in the paper on RC schools... Do people really think the surrounding counties don't have tribunals or daily crimes?

Lol, almost everytime WRDW does a crime by zipcode segment.. 90% of the time they have to include the zipcode 30906... 95% of the schools crimes segment is focused on RC schools...

Come on Countyman, while

Come on Countyman, while there may not be as many tribunals, they ARE printed. Columbia County is no better than Richmond County. Richmond County just has more bad people.

Could it be that WRDW as well as other news organizations are just reporting facts? But, by all means, don't let that get in the way of your opinion.

Columbia County already has 2 murders this year. That's a 100% increase over last year. Do you feel better now? And can you believe it, both of them were in the paper.

Well, now that someone

Well, now that someone brought up counties, look at the duck story, and the piggy bank story. The fact that they happened in Richmond County is mute. The fact that some nut that just happens to be in Richmond County REPORTED it speaks volumns.

Reminds me of when some idiot is WALKING downtown or a high-crime area at 3:00 in the morning, gets robbed and/or beaten up, and reports it. DUH! I would be too embarassed for the public to know that I had such stupid judgment as to be in that area at that time of night and not think that JUST might happen!

As crime increases we'll

As crime increases we'll become more aware of why an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That duck was probably that ladies friend. I know that would have broken my heart. If this duck doesn't turn up at the AFLAC tryouts he may have put a smile on some fakers face...
