Police search for Aiken Subway robber

Police are searching for a man who robbed an Aiken restaurant at gunpoint over the weekend.

About 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the man entered the Subway restaurant, at 1675 Richland Ave. W., through the back door, pointed a handgun at the two employees and demanded all of their money. The employees complied and were unharmed. The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of money, according to an Aiken Public Safety news release issued today.

The Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team assisted in the search for the gunman. He is described as white with brown eyes, about 5 feet 10 inches and 145 pounds. He was wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans, the release said.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Aiken Department of Public Safety at (803) 642-7620 or Crimestoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of $50 to $1,000.
