That boy is just plain

That boy is just plain stupid. There is no way, in this day and age, that that boy didn't know that bringing that BB gun to school was permissable. He had to do it for attention, and he got it. Idiotic.

As a tax-paying citizen, I

As a tax-paying citizen, I would like to know why the Sheriff's Office handled this case. The BOE does have it's own police force, correct? Last I heard, they still do. They are a certified agency. With REAL police. Why didn't they handle this? It occurred during school hours on school property. County employees are being furloughed and we waste money sending a Deputy to handle a case that should have been handled by the BOE Public Safety Div. What a ridiculous waste of money.

Back in the day, the

Back in the day, the principal would have paddled his tail, his folks would have paddled his tail and the whole thing would be over. No law, no paperwork, no story. We were stupid kids once too. They just handled it smarter.

fatboy, exactly where would

fatboy, exactly where would the BOE officers hold this young man for his crime. i do not recall seeing a cell at any richmond county school, central office, maintenance, or transportation. He deserves to be at 401 with the rest of the criminals who have done dumb stuff.

aughate, you are correct.

aughate, you are correct. There are no cells at the Central Office, or anywhere else on BOE property. However, the BOE officers, having full arrest authority, can transport & book prisoners into the Richmond County Jail. So, it could have been, and should have been, handled by them.

EasyABC you are correct and

EasyABC you are correct and that is the problem, these young people today don't have anything to fear anymore and that is why they are out of control. When I was a kid you got you butt beat at school, then again at home, maybe by mom then again for good measure by dad. I am thankful for the spankings I got, they made me a better person and there is a big difference between spanking and abuse.......but it is just one more way that the governement has taken control away from parents and unfortunately kids are paying the price for being raised without discipline...

Evidently no one knows

Evidently no one knows Georgia law, nowhere does it say that you can not discipline your child to include spanking. I know of police who have told the parent you take care of your business and I'll stand right here. DFACS ill even tell you that you can spank. (but not beat) There is a difference between discipline and abuse. Where the mistake was made was taking spanking and God out of the schools.

No, back in the day, people didn't bring guns to schools and point them at other people.
