Richmond County authorities say they are still investigating a vehicle accident that left a 20-year-old woman in critical condition.

Sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay said a 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by Meagan Swartz struck the rear of a 2000 Dodge 3500 pickup truck that had come to a halt in the 3700 block of Wheeler Road around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities said the driver of the truck, owned by Springwood Nursery in Evans, had stopped the vehicle while he turned on the sprinklers in the median, Gay said.

Swartz was transported to Medical College of Georgia Hospital and is in critical condition, Gay said. A small child riding in the car was also transported to a hospital. The condition and identity of the child were not made public.

No warning sign on truck that this vehicle will make sudden stops?
Flashers were on? I wonder if there is more information available as it would behoove everyone to be on the alert for any vehicle in front of one, just in case it decides to stop suddenly in the roadway.
My best wishes and prayers go out to the young lady and the baby, I hope they will both be alright very soon.
