A Hephzibah Middle School pupil showed an inappropriate picture of himself to a female pupil on Feb. 14, according to a Richmond County tribunal finding made public today.

This was the second time he had exposed himself to other pupils, the March 1 tribunal found, so he was suspended for the rest of this school year and for the 2011-12 school year. He was given the option to attend the Tubman Education Center Alternative Program in lieu of long-term suspension.

In other findings:

  • A Pine Hill Middle School pupil was suspended after he got physical with and intimidated another pupil, used profanity toward the teacher and other pupils, and balled up a piece of paper and threw it at the teacher on Feb. 18. He was suspended for the rest of this school year and the first semester of 2011-12 with the option to attend the alternative program.
  • Two Sego Middle School special education pupils were suspended after they fought, and a teacher was hurt while trying to break them up, on Feb. 16. One pupil was assigned to the alternative program for the rest of this school year and all of 2011-12, and the other was suspended for the rest of this school year with the option to attend the alternative program. This decision is subject to the review of the special education team.

keep in mind special ed.

keep in mind special ed. doesn't mean what it used to. if you're a chronic trouble maker these days you get issued that label. they should have been told not to return to a RC school for the remainder of their lives.

The sad part is that innocent

The sad part is that innocent kids are expected to cope with these "special ed" kids.

Back in the good ol' days, when somebody couldn't behave, the other kids would band together and let the kid know, in every possible way, that the behavior wasn't ok. And that kept the bullies in line.

They can't do that anymore- it's PC now, and the normal kids are expected to "be nice" and if another kid assaults them, they are supposed to "tell the teacher". If they fight back, they get suspended. And the bullies know that, and it just fuels their behavior.

Why is the Alternative School

Why is the Alternative School an option rather than a requirement? They should not get out of school just because they want to. They need a structured environment with professionals trained to educate them. At least keep them off the streets.

We should never forget that

We should never forget that one of the so called "special ed" students attacked the Murphy Middle School teacher and that she was in a coma until her ultimely death a couple of years ago. "Special ed" my rear end!
