An Augusta psychologist was jailed after an 8-year-old patient told authorities the doctor had exposed himself during a session.

Kenneth McPherson, 54, who has a practice at 2610 Central Ave., was charged with nonaggravated child molestation Monday.

The boy, who suffers from autism, also told authorities McPherson had a book with photos of naked photos of children, according to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Calvin Chew.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for McPherson’s office and were able to “find enough evidence to corroborate the boy’s story,” Chew said. However, authorities were unable to locate the book of photos.

I'm glad they found the evidence to back the childs story up.... Parents usually the person you would never suspect would hurt your kids in any way are the ones you have to watch out for so "Always" have your eyes open! As parents it's solely up to us to be so aware of everything that sly people can't get anything past us! I just wish that in the times that we can't be there like when our children are in day care or at school we could trust that the people who hire the employees to do a better back ground check on who they are trusting with our children! So scary!

What evidence? you guys don't

What evidence? you guys don't even know what they found. What evidence can support the story of exposing himself? They didn't even find a book of photos. that's the kid's story against his, and we know kids may say anything to get attention.

No, I am not defending the psychologist, but I just don't understand something here. When I first read that the authorities "found enough evidence to corroborate the boy's story", first thing I thought was that they had found the picture book, but the next sentence said they hadn't found the picture book. Wouldn't the boy's claim be pretty much his word against the psychologist's word? Can't see how the doctor would've done something like that with a witness present! Can any of you folks clear that point up for me? And, btw, if the doctor is guilty, then he should get the full extent that the law allows.

There were no witnesses

There were no witnesses present he was alone with the boy. They must have found pornography or something of that sort on his computer or on his video recorder .... see if the parent had known that the sessions could be recorded she would have requested that since she wasn't able to go in the room or watch through a 2 way mirror. The boy came home and told his mom what was going on after one of many sessions and she sat him down and he told her several things that she knew he couldn't possibly make up and once she felt strongly that he was telling the truth she called the cops and filed a report they investigated and obviously found enough to make an arrest. The book however could have been a dirty magazine you just never know until the media decides to let us in on more details.

No matter what some people

No matter what some people think, the RCSD doesn't just lock you up without evidence. I would be willing to bet they found some child pornography or something similar to back up the child's story. Don't worry, the suspect will have his day in court and will have ample time to prove he didn't do it, even if he did.

A child is in far greater danger of molestation from a family member or trusted friend than from a day care worker or school worker. Please educate yourself- you need to worry far more from the people that you trust and let into your home.

I am already very careful

I am already very careful about who comes in my home my daughter has never been alone with a man in my home other than her father and that was rare cause he worked so much. I keep a very close eye and I am a very protective mother but I can't watch what goes on when she goes to school I can only hope and pray that God is protecting her when I can't so don't be rude I am simply stating my opinion in this matter is that not what the comment field is for?

That's not how it works. Defendants are not required to prove anything, that's the prosecutor's job.

It's where the statement "Innocent until proven guilty" comes from.

As a parent of an autism

As a parent of an autism child myself. We too have to see all kind of doctors and therapists and I found this very heart wrecking. I hope and pray that if this is so true that he really gets punished for his actions. He is also on the list for CCBOE Local Psychologists. Now is the time for every parent to double check every doctor and therapist and other people that our children are in contact with and hope and pray they find a very good one. My heart goes out to the parents of this child.

I know Dr. McPherson because

I know Dr. McPherson because when we lived in the area my step-son saw him for 2 years. I even recommended him because he had done wonders with my step-son. We even took a vacation with him and several other familie to Disney World. He does have a room with a 2 way mirror. He also has cameras up in the rooms upstairs and parents can watch and listen to sessions. My husband talked to my step-son after we found out on Monday from a former neighbor even though we had watched and listened to most sessions. Part of me wonders about this and doesn't want it to be true, just because he did help our family so much. On the other hand if this is true, I think he should be punished to the maximum extent of the law. I know one time during a visit, that I watched and listened to, they talked about bruises and things. My step-sons biological mother has an abusive histiory. Ken, used this conversation as a way to check him for any bruises both before and after his visit to his to his mother's. Had I not seen this and been listening to the conversation, I can see how it could be misconstrued. My step-son took off his shirt to look for bruises, but we needed this kind of documention in case he returned with any bruising, so that we could show the courts that it wasn't us trying to make false accusations against her. In the courts it has to be documented by someone not directly involved in the case. Please don't judge Ken until more is known. Like I said before, if he is guilty then he needs to be punished, but I know he has helped a lot of kids including my step-son. Prayers for all parties involved!!
