ATLANTA - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and other politicians are planning to swing by a celebration at the statehouse this week recognizing golf's economic impact to the state.
The Georgia Allied Golf Council is hosting Georgia Golf Day on Tuesday under the Gold Dome to celebrate 2011 as "The Year of Golf."
The group says that the golf industry generates a $5.1 billion economic impact for Georgia. It says golf also supports about 57,000 jobs in Georgia that account for $1.5 billion in wage income.
The activities will feature free golf lessons from Georgia professionals and photo opportunities with PGA trophies.
