A 13-year-old runaway appeared at the Richmond County Sheriff's Office on Thursday to report she had been abused, deputies said.

The girl told officers she ran away from home because her father had been beating her and her brother with an extension cord at their home in the 2100 block of Third Avenue, according to an incident report.

Officers observed marks on the girl's arms and legs.
