A Martinez hair salon will hold a fundraiser March 13 to benefit the family of a local teenager with cancer.

Trendz Salon at 3670 Old Petersburg Road will give out free haircuts, chair massages, face paintings and food from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The salon is asking for a donation from each guest, which will help the family of 16-year-old Taylor Bedichek pay for the medical bills from her Hodgkin’s lymphoma treatment.

Since  Taylor was diagnosed in October , the chemotherapy treatments have shrunk the cancerous tumor near  her heart 60 percent.

Her family still struggles to pay for costly medicines and doctor  visits.

Salon owner Robyn Kelley said the last two fundraisers she held for cancer patients  brought in $7,000 each, and she hopes to raise as much or more for the Bedicheks.
