Mark J. Wilson checked four science books out of the former Eaton Jr. High library in the early 1970s when he was a student at the school, now called Eaton Middle School.
Wilson told The Daily Press he doesn't remember checking the books out from the library. He decided to return them after his wife recently found them.
The 52-year-old Lilburn, Ga., resident says his wife suggested returning the books anonymously to avoid a potential $10,000 fine.
Eaton librarian Cecelia Kelly says Wilson doesn't have to worry. The school system stopped charging overdue fines this year.
